A few weeks ago, we got the results of our 2nd tour bidding. In November of 2014 we’re heading to sunny Doha, Qatar where I will (at this point) be working as one of 4 officers in the consular section.
We’re thrilled about Doha. Neither of us have been to the Gulf before but we’re really looking forward to getting there and doing some exploring. So while it’s been 100 plus degrees here in Juarez, we’ve started to think about it as a warm up for the 120 plus degrees we’ll encounter in Doha.
For those of you not up on your tiny-teensy-countries-of-the-world-geography, Qatar is the tiny peninsula that juts out into the Persian Gulf from the northeast-ish part of Saudi Arabia:
At some point in the near future I’ll toss up some more interesting facts about Qatar and about how it compares to my current position here in Juarez. For now, I’m heading off to bed to get some sleep. Tomorrow is the Independence Day soiree here at the Consulate and it’s going to be a long day.
